Michael Ahrens MSc CAIA CIP
Michael Ahrens (1968) founded his own company, after finishing his studies Commercial Economics in Alkmaar (NL) and Financing at the University of Maastricht (NL). First as a publisher of a professional journal for investors and investment courses and later on as asset manager of a hedge fund, he has gained broad experience in the world of stocks, bonds and derivatives. After selling his share in the asset management firm, he concentrated on independent investment research and trainings. Michael is also a columnist at an important Dutch financial newspaper (Financiële Telegraaf).
Within the context of the CIP training (Certified Investment Professional) he lectures a number of courses, such as ‘Derivatives’, ‘Risk Management’, ‘Swaps’ and ‘Treasury’. Michael is Chief Operations Officer/partner of ML Finance Academy.
Harry Geels CIP
Harry Geels (1969) has over thirteen years of experience, amongst others as chief-editor of the magazine Technical and Quantitative Analysis (Reed Elsevier), as senior investment manager at Compendeon (pension funds advisor) and now as director Research at Inmaxxa Asset Management. Harry is the author of the book which is used for the course ‘Advanced Portfolio Management’ and he is also a columnist at an important Dutch financial newspaper (Financiële Telegraaf). At ML Finance Academy, Harry lectures the courses ‘Portfolio Management’ and ‘Derivatives’.
Harry is partner of ML Finance Academy.
Mark Lamers CIP
Mark Lamers (1971) has broad experience in the financial world. As Financial Consultant and Sales Director he worked for various internationally operating software companies, market data companies, asset managers, brokers and (hedge) funds. He co-founded an Asset Manager that was acknowledged by the Dutch Central Bank. This Asset Manager managed private assets based on quantitative models. Mark is also chairman of the board of the Foundation CIP and is partner in MLXperts.
At ML Finance Academy, Mark lectures the courses ‘Introduction to Capital Markets’ and ‘Financial Mathematics’.
Mark is partner and Chief Executive Officer of ML Finance Academy.
Bart Mantje has been working for over eighteen years in de Security Service Industry. The first 16 years in various management functions with KAS BANK and as Chairman of the Pension Fund of KAS BANK. The last two years Bart has been working as COO of ABN AMRO Investment Management.
At ML Finance Academy, Bart lectures the courses ” Asset Servicing”.
Jan-Willem Nijkamp (1964) studied political science at the University of Leiden (NL). After that he finished the training for Register Investment Analyst (>> Register Beleggings Analist (RBA)) and received the Orange Fund Award for his graduation paper. In 1996 he was Banker of the Year and he has now been working for more than 17 years in the financial market as investment advisor and asset manager, both for private and institutional investors. He worked for Merrill Lynch, Banque Paribas and Petercam Bank; at the moment Jan-Willem is working for Fintessa Asset Manager. In the past he also worked as lecturer Finance and Investments and he was regularly on Dutch television as a stock exchange reporter.

Hans van Roekel
Hans van Roekel (1951) started his career at Barclays Bank PLC where he held various management functions worldwide. In 1998 he switched to SPF Management where he was a member of the management team and responsible for Operations & Control. Since beginning 2010, Hans is the owner of CSL Advisory, a consulting agency for custody and securities lending.
At ML Finance Academy, Hans lectures the courses ‘Corporate Actions’ and ‘Securities Lending.’
Mitchel Steur CIP
Mitchel Steur is head of Settlement Service Client Support at KAS BANK and responsible for all post-trade client contacts with regards to Clearing & OTC Settlement. Mitchel has 10 years of experience in the financial sector performing in, amongst others, different management positions. Prior to joining KAS BANK, Mitchel has worked at the Dutch Central Bank where he was part of the Corporate Actions deskand also took care of the daily collateral for the stock exchange. At ML Finance Academy Mitchel takes care of the courses Mid- & Backoffice and also ‘Clearing & Settlement’.
